Before you is a young woman of about 22 Turns, 4 months, and 20 days. Her slanted, silver-blue eyes sparkle over high cheekbones, and when she smiles, a dimple appears in her left cheek. Her white-blond hair is pulled back from her face in a thick, complex, but on the whole sensible braid, the length of which hints at the considerable length of her hair when loose.
Her 5'6" frame is covered by a simple blue dress, but the cut manages to subtly accent the finer points of her figure. Under fitted sleeves, her arms seem pleasantly toned, and end in hands that are obviously used to work, though softened through attentive care. Her legs are nearly invisible under her skirt, which swirls gracefully about her ankles as she walks. The sandals on her feet are of a soft, light brown, and as well cared for as the rest of her attire. She wears the knot of an Assistant Headwoman at Starmount Weyr.
She carries a small bundle with her, wrapped in a rainbow quilt.
The faint scent of flowers follows her every movement.

   Kariel was born and raised in a small runnerhold in Keroon, Meadow View Hold, where her father is  holder. She was raised with a love for runners. Some of her earliest memories are of riding in front of her father, Sevan, or later her five-turns-older brother, Brihan. By the time she was five, she was learning to
 ride on her own, as well as do simple chores in the stables. By the time she was ten, she was assisting her father and brothers with the training of the horses. In her free time, she trained her horse, a stallion named  Wildfire, to do tricks, nearly killing herself a few times in the process. Later, she began running messages  for her father to nearby holds.

 When Kari was eight, her father and the neighboring holder, of Windy Meadows Hold, decided to foster their oldest sons with one another. Brihan went to Windy Meadows, while the holders son, Hawkin, came  to Meadow View. Almost right away, Hawkin became infatuated with Kariel, but she didn't notice. With so much to do in the stables, she had no time for such things. He took every excuse to be near her, and eventually she got used to having him around, and they became friends.

 Years passed. When she was 14, Brihan came home, and it was 16-turn-old Mikal's turn to be fostered at Windy Meadows. Hawkin stayed on at Meadow View, and they stayed friends, though for her the relationship never progessed past that. More time passed. Then came the event that changed Kari's life.

Eventually, Kari became restless, and decided it was time to move on. So she headed for the Harper /Healer Hall.

  When Kariel arrived at the Harper/Healer Hall, she was at a loss for what to do next. She had ideas of becoming a Healer, but when she arrived she discovered that all the new appretices were several years  younger than she was. Undecided, she resided at the Hall, waiting to get to know more people and get a  clue of what to do.

 She had only been at the Hall a few scant sevendays when gold Kisath clutched at Igen Weyr, and Search began. One evening, while she was in the Hall courtyard, the Hall recieved a visit from some sweepriders, led by Yuna, rider of green Iolioth. Kariel joined the other young people at the Landing field, and, unlike many there, she was chosen. She was carried back to Igen Weyr by Iolioth and Yuna, where she lives now.

    Kari went through candidacy gracefully, although she somehow earned the animosity of Elana, the  Weyrlingmaster, and another candidate, Oshirion (O'rion). However, she did find several good friends, including Annaly and Mydian, both fellow candidates . When the  Hatching rolled  around, she watched her many of her friends, including Serani, Tasuki (T'suki), Annaly, and Caylenna
  (Cayle) Impress, but she herself did not . The disappointment didn't last long, however, and within a few days she was back to her normal, perky, super-friendly self. Also, she decided to stay at Igen Weyr rather than to return to the Harper/Healer Hall or go back home, and became one of  Headwoman Rita's assistants.

  Soon after that, she and Mydian confirmed what they had figured out during Candidacy : that they were  more or less made for one another. While they decided to hold off on becoming officially hand-fasted, they may as well be.

Later, after returning to the Harper/Healer Hall to wish a happy 1st Turnday to Orean, son of Masterharper Otto and Healer Master Ophilya, a firelizard clutch decided that that was the time to hatch. Kari was glad to take a crack at it, and ended up Impressing blue Keir. At the same time, a mysterious girl also Impressed one of the hatclings, and Kari later to discovered that the girl was Cheia, one of her good friends who had run away from the Weyr for reasons unknowm.

You always hear people saying that 'nothing lasts forever.' Well, this held true for Kari and Mydian's relationship as well. Through a series of misuderstandings, they broke up, and Mydian left the Weyr altogether. Kari threw herself into her work, quickly making herself Rita's hardest working assistant. Soon, she knew the workings of the Weyr at least as well as Rita herself, and Rita decided to step down. Now, three Turns after coming to Igen Weyr, Kari has found her place in life: As the Headwoman of Igen Weyr, stepping easily into Rita's shoes.

And what of her love life? Well, if you asked Kari, she'll tell you she has none. In fact, rumor has it that there has been no one since her ill-fated relationship with Mydian. Now that she's settling into her new position, however, there's a certain look in her eyes, and in an unguarded moment she can be caught daydreaming. The question is, who? Surely not the Weyrleader, even though they seem to be close - He's weyrmated. Even if his weyrmate has left the Weyr, probably permanantly. But if it is K'dris, isn't she setting herself up for heartbreak? Only time will tell.

As it turns out, it was K'dris. One night she joined the Weyrleader near the starstones, where he had gone to think...And ended up staying that night in his weyr. She left happier than she'd ever been before, but sadly, it wouldn't last, and
that would be the only night. Soon after, K'dris left to visit Telgar, but the dragons started keening just after he left. Told to go one way by K'dris, his lifemate, and another by his queen mate Chasith at Igen, Knetseth became confused *between*, and stayed there. Heartbroken, Kariel took to her office and refused to leave, until the overly-jealous Weyrwoman burst in, ordering her to get over it or get out. Kariel fled north, to snowy Starmount Weyr, about as far as she could get from Igen. She was soon joined by her closest friends, Serani, a greenrider and Corven, a woodsmith, who had travelled there for their own reasons; Then Annaly, Kari's best friend, who had been forbidden to search for Kariel and banished from the Weyr when she did anyway, and Annaly's weyrmate T'suki.

A little more than a month after that fateful night with K'dris, a greatly depressed Kari got yet another shock to her system: She was pregnant. There was no doubt as to who the father was. The baby gave her a new reason to live, and soon she bagan to come out of her depression, but not without the help of her friends, as well as new friends such as C'drel, K'rian, and R'ken. Eight months later brought the arrival of a little boy, whose mother named him Kedrien.

Who said I liked him? - Oshirion tells Mydian that Kariel likes him, and Kariel isn't pleased.

Party at the Harper/Healer Hall - Kariel goes to see some friends, and Impresses Keir, her first firelizard.

Three girls, a guy, a bit to drink - Kariel, Zelle, and Annaly toss back some wine and bash some guys, and K'dris attempts to defend his gender.

Kiss a Weyrleader! - Annaly has a cold, but that doesn't stop her and Kariel from trying to convince Ked to man the kissing booth for the Gather they're planning.

Workaholic tendencies begin to make themselves known - K'dris admits the reason for Mataya's recent scarcity, and Kariel offers to help him out in the best way she can.

Giving a Workaholic a Reason - Kariel gets called in to talk to K'dris and Kitaeli, and receives some welcome news.

A kiss is but a kiss... - Kariel comes across K'dris in the Wine Cellar, and things change. (Disclaimer - Semi-angsty)
